Tim Monigan
NAME: Timothy "SkuzzyXD" Monigan DDGA #67 and PDGA #29656
HOME TOWN: Frederick, MD, USA
HOME COURSE: Seneca Creek State Park DGC in Gaithersburg, Maryland
HOW AND WHEN WERE YOU INTRODUCED TO DISC GOLF?:
I am very athletic and love sports. When I first learned about disc golf in the spring of 1990, Kevin and I played at Calvert Park DGC, College Park MD. We played with Frisbees. I did not play again untill 2000 when I moved back to Maryland. Then I met up with some disc golf players named Shannon Lally, Ricky Cornish, Stephen Carey, and a few others. In 1992, Stephen Carey, Ricky Cornish and I later became co-founders of the Mid Atlantic Deaf Disc Golf Asoociation (MADDGA). Since then, I have hosted about 20 events as the Tournament Director. This includes one National Deaf Disc Golf Championship Tournament at Paw Paw, WV in 2006, which was a big success. I stuck with the sport and have been playing Professional since 2004. I am an avid disc golfer!
FIRST TOURNAMENT? IF SO, WHEN AND WHERE?
2001 at the World's Biggest Deaf Disc Golf Tournament, hosted by David "Farf" Good at Foxboro Campground, MA, where I placed 11th out of 25 men. Then, from 2002 to 2007, I accumulated five titles in a row at the each annual World's Biggest Deaf Disc Golf event. I was the First Deaf Man to do this, so of course I am very proud of my feat!
WHAT'S IN YOUR DISC GOLF BAG?
INNOVA!! DX XD 170g & 172g Putters, First Run Star XD 170g Putter, Super Roc 172g, Champion Edition Valkyrie 170g, Champion Edition Teebird 170g, Star Max 175g, Star Orc 170g, Star Destoryer 172g, old beat-up Champion Beast 170g, NDDGC Paw Paw Star Sidewinder 170g, Star TeeRex 172g, Pro Champion Wraith 170g, and One Discraft
Elite XS 170g I use as a roller. I also have an Innova Towel, pencil, bug spray, enegry bar, nuts, MD State Flag mini disc, and a water bottle along with various trash thrown on the course by litterbugs. I always pick up trash and throw it in my disc golf bag - better in my bag than on the disc golf course!
DISC GOLF GOALS?
Going International since I am Founder of the Deaf International Disc Golf Association, along with my great Board Members. I'd like to expand the disc golf playing field and increase knowledge about disc golf all over the world and hope that my kids will eventually be able to play in other countries. Then, one day, I hope to become the champion of a big event, which is a big goal of mine. I am also aiming to gather more deaf disc golfers and reach out to networks and partnerships. I also want to educate people about how great disc golf is for families, friends, and lovers!
